The ANS Filebase (http://filebase.acornusers.org/ [4]), a directory of RISC OS [5] software, has been significantly enhanced with the addition of a new interface and personalisation system.
To search for RISC OS [6] software go to the ANS Filebase web site. You can specify multiple keywords (eg search +require -exclude), or use the advanced search page at
http://filebase.acornusers.org/search [7], which includes many new
features such as searching by author.
To take advantage of the new personalisation features simply register
at http://filebase.acornusers.org/register [8]. Registration is free, and the e-mail address you provide will only be used to send you information you request from the site.
When you have logged in you can select software you are interested in, and next time you visit the site you will be able to see a list of
programs which have been updated.
Alternatively you can choose to receive e-mail notification when software in your list is updated. You can choose daily, weekly, or
monthly e-mails, which will contain details of all updates since the last e-mail.
The ANS Filebase currently contains more than 500 entries, and users can help by adding details of new software. All links are checked
regularly to ensure they are active. Software authors who register can claim the database entry about their programs, to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
