announcements [3]
Chris Hughes, Show organiser has sent us the following press release about the Wakefield show [4]...
Next weekend is show time, Saturday 26th April.

The 13th show has moved back to the venue where it all started, the Cedar Court Hotel, Jct 39 of the M1, Wakefield.

It will be open to the public between 10 am and 5 pm. Entrance cost 5 ukp per person (5's and under are free)

The main part of the exhibition is on the 1st Floor in the large Cedar Suite, while the show theatre which makes a return by public demand will be on the ground floor in the Garden Suite.

There is disabled access to the 1st floor via a lift.

There are more than 24 exhibitors at this years event, with all the main players present, like Advantage 6, RISCOS Ltd, RISCOS Open Ltd, R-Comp, etc.. In addition to a number of small developers like SoftRock, Ray Favre, Netsurf, etc..

To link in with this being the Wakefield club's 25th Anniversary, we will have a working Domesday system (hopefully with sound working by the time the show opens!), as well as JGH BBC Software showing his latest developments for the BBC B, that started many of us off with Acorn and later RISC OS [5] kit. There has been much talk of the BBC B etc in the various computing press of late with much nostalgia, and the news that they are still in use and in demand second hand.

In addition the club has commissioned a commemorative 25th Anniversary Mug primarily for WROCC club members, but we will have a limited supply available for sale from the club stand on a first come - first served basis.

The WROCC club has also now introduced a 50% off on the first years membership for all new members (6 ukp instead of 12 ukp)

Steve Fryatt will also be showing off his Cash Book (personal finance) program and has had a manual printed for it.

Crawford Printers (one of the show sponsors) will also for the first time have a stand at the show, they are a RISC OS friendly printer, as can be seen by the show tickets and Show guide all produced by them and have been for a few years now. They also organised the club anniversary mugs. They can provide a wide range of printing options.

RISCOS Connect will also have a stand explaining about the RISC OS Connect project and what it is all about.

All the RISC OS magazines will be represented by Qercus [6], Archive, RiscWorld and RISCOS Now.

We will as usual have a charity stall raising money again for Wakefield Hospice (more details in another press release)

There is on site catering provided by the hotel in the lounge or restaurant/carvery plus alternative venues nearby.

Ensure you retain your show ticket for re-entry and access to the show theatre.

A FREE mini-bus will once again be operating from Wakefield Westgate station from 9:30 till show closure. There will be two buses throughout the morning until approximately 13:30 and then just the one. Please look for the Show sign in the Mini-Buses window at the Station (due to the Station Car park being re-designed we are not certain of the pickup point). - They are Ray Austin Mini-Buses - the same as last year.

The pickup/drop off point at hotel is the main front entrance.

The hotel is right next to Jct 39 of the M1 so is very easy to get to by road, there is some public transport, but we would recommend the mini-bus service if coming from the centre of Wakefield (there is a free City Bus going between the Bus station and both Wakefield Kirkgate and Wakefield Westgate railway stations about every 10 mins).

Full details of the show can be found on the show website including a floor plan etc at: http://www.wakefieldshow.org.uk

The show is sponsored by M W Software, Advantage 6 and Crawford printers.
