In a late change to our advertised programme of events, the Wakefield RISCOS Computer Club are pleased to announce a visit from Simtec Electronics [3] & Stuart Tyrrell Developments [4] on Wednesday 2nd October 2002.
Simtec will be talking about and showing their USB [5] and Network cards and also a few other items.

Stuart was to be our guest in November but will be teaming up with Simec for the October meeting instead.

Stuart will be talking about his interfaces, upgrades and connectivity devices for all your interfacing needs.

At the meeting, you should expect to see USB in action under RISC OS [6], with devices able to "hot plug in / unplug" and no doubt we'll get an update on the state of play with regards to drivers for popular devices.

Club meetings are held at the West Yorkshire Sports & Social Club, Sandal, Wakefield and start at 7:45 prompt. For further information on how to get to the meetings, visit the club website at http://www.wrocc.org.uk/ [7].

Don't miss this opportunity to see these technologies first hand and to meet some of the guys behind the developments.

Please note that Simtec will not be able to answer questions on behalf of RiscStation about the laptop. Any such questions should be directed to Riscstation directly.

Perhaps someone can ask Simtec about their USB card (I think it was a USB card) that appeared on the cover of the July Acorn User magazine. I only saw the cover image on the AU website, but the card shown seemed to have a Compact Flash connector on the side, as well as (what looked like) a USB connector on the back.
Also, do their USB cards conform with the 1.1 or the 2.0 USB standard?
On the other hand, someone may already know the answers.
