Microdigital [4] have revealed that their long overdue Omega computer looks to be on for a Novemeber launch.


The Omega boasts the ability to use both the normal StrongARM and also the new ARM X-Scale processors at the same time with a method of switching between the processors decided on by the computer.

It is also the first RISC OS [5] computer which has absolutely no designs from the old RISC OS machines and does not include any of the expensive propietory circuits (such as VIDC, MEMC and IOMC).

With this level of hardware abstraction, can it be long before we see something which will really set the platform amongst the stars in terms of speed of processor?
