The Wakefield Acorn Computer Group has recently changed its name to "Wakefield RISCOS Computer Club". After a debate at the AGM in January, the members voted to change the name to reflect the new era of our faviourite computer platform.

With three manufacturers of computers which use the RISC OS [4] operating system rather than just Acorn computers, and with Acorn Computers Ltd. having left the scene, it was decided that removing the word Acorn and replacing it with RISCOS better reflected the nature of the club and it's members's interests.

The name change took immediate effect, following the club's annual general meeting on the 3rd of January. Please note that for several months, all previous contact addresses will remain valid for continuity.

The club is the oldest established, RISC OS computer club / user group in the UK, originally formed in 1983 as the Wakefield BBC Micro User Group. Monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month at the West Yorkshire Sports & Social Club at Sandal in Wakefield at 7:45pm.

The club have postal membership available if you are unable to attend meetings and visitors are welcome to meetings. For more information about the club, or for information on how to get to meetings, see the club website at http://www.wacg.org.uk/
