Appart from the obvious comment that the portal needs a distinctive "look and feel" of its own...
I don't know about everyone else but I wouldl ike to be able to turn off some of the various things down the side of the home page. For instance I don't really need a hyper-link to <yell.com> available at all times.[addsig] |

And where would the link to Yell.com be then?
Anyway the stuff you can edit is in the 'Your Account' section - you can turn on a user editable block.
The rest are fixed by the administration of My RISC OS - if users revolt against a particular feature, it will be removed.
However, I'd prefer it if people suggested what they wanted on the left side (always visible) and the right side (goes away on many sub pages) as the first start.

Since it has been said that this site is modeled on Slashdot it might be worth looking at their preference system. I don't want to be able to turn on a user definable chunk of rubbish. I want to be rid of some of the current rubbish. However I appreciate that some people want it. Therefore the prefered solution is to provide configuration options such that any of the various left and right hand side options can be switched off.
