Private Eye 2.51 2053 Reads applications

David Thomas has updated Private Eye to version 2.51, a viewer for Sprites, DrawFiles, JPEGs, ArtWorks, GIFs and PNGs. It has recently gained some editing features including a bitmap effects system.Version 2.50 had a bug which could stop the effects window working on any OS earlier than RISC OS 4. (I was calling Wimp_AutoScroll which didn't exist up until WindowManager 4.00). Bug fix release 2.51, now available, fixes the problem and also tidies up some vanishing icons in the templates.

Private Eye 2.51 can be downloaded from the MyRISCOS downloads section.

A short while ago, Martin Würthner made the latest ArtWorks Viewer application available on his web site.  An important point to note about the latest version is that some earlier versions were only available as commercial purchases, whereas Martin has decided to make version 2.10 available to everyone for free.

Text > Draw 2437 Reads applications

Chris Johnson has produced a brand new application, Text > Draw, here's Chris' USENET announcement: "Diagrams produced in Draw often need to be annotated using standard draw text objects. However, a draw text object can have only one text style. When annotating technical or scientific diagrams, for example, it is often necessary to include subscripts, superscripts, greek
characters, mixed styles such as italic and normal, etc. Thus, to enter an equation or a chemical formula would involve the entry of a number of separate text objects as small as single characters, with subsequent careful grouping and alignment to construct the complete equation.

Adrian Lees ceased development of Cino many months ago as the current hardware did not allow Cino to run at a good enough speed.

So, instead of letting Cino gather dust on his hard disc, he has freely released it on his website. It is far from ready but it's the closest we're going to get for a RISC OS DVD player for quite a while!

You can download it from: http://adrian.aemulor.com/
