There are less than two months to the eagerly-anticipated RISC OS Southwest Show! An annual event taking place at the Webbington Hotel, Loxton.

A list of exhibitors is expected to be published on the site shortly. Perhaps this show will be the one where we get to see a working RiscStation laptop - and maybe we'll be able to buy one! Perhaps this show will be the one where we get to see a working Microdigital Omega - and maybe we'll be able to buy one!

It says that apparently RISC OS still has a loyal following, it sure does.

Also in case anyone doesn't know by now, Artex have announced that pre-orders for TEK are now being taken.

    Happy New Year to all.

Note: The BBC have kindly added a link back to My RISC OS whilst they were correcting a spelling mistake that we pointed out - Cheers :)

In a bold move (as first spotted by /.) the Office of the e-Envoy (OeE) have released a policy on Open Source Software (OSS) usage within Government!

There is currently a consultation document that is quite aware of the issues involved.

Note: Definition of Open Source Software or preferably visit the UK Mirror of the same document

As a very happy user of the Viewfinder Graphics Card upgrade for RiscPC's, I was pleased at this announcement recently received from the Viewfinder mailing list.

So far John has been busy improving the firmware with new versions appearing regularly, the firmware has been very stable since version 1.16 but that hasn't stopped John beavering away making it faster, smoother, and basically better.

    To quote John Kortink...

    Emergency announcement

We regret to announce that David Atkins of MicroDigital has, due to a personal crisis, had to cancel his visit to Wakefield today.

David was looking forward to showing us the final working prototype and taking questions from visitors. Due to short notice, nobody else from MicroDigital was available to step in. David sends his apologies.

The Wakefield Acorn Computer Group meeting will still be taking place, but with an alternative event. This is likely to be a PD night, showing various bits of software on RISC OS.

We apologise for the short notice.

Although I had not known Mike as long as many others, I felt that we had become good friends over the last year or so. I often gave Mike a lift in the car to WACG meetings and will miss our little conversations on the journeys. Mike was very good at telling stories about his past and had some really interesting tales to tell.

Once again, I am apologising for the lack of response to email that may have been sent to mail@riscos.org.uk or info@riscos.org.uk. I don't know why, but the 'catch all' facility has just ceased to work. I was not aware of this - the problem I fixed was on my RiscPC.

Thanks to Ian Macfarlane, a riscos.org.uk user,I have been made aware of this and have fixed the problem.

All enquiries should now be emailed to domains@riscos.org.uk.

This has been tested and found to work.

Apologies for the problems. Please do resend any requests to the above address and I will be happy to action them.
