Press Release: Acorn User Reconfiguration

Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 09:58 PM, (1421 Reads)

Acorn User today announced that John Cartmell has joined the team as editor of the best-selling magazine for RISC OS users. He is at present assisting in the production of the
Christmas Issue of the magazine and will take over editorial control of Acorn User in time for the first issue of 2002. John has contributed to the News and Graphics columns of the magazine for over 12 months and has also written the RISC OS 4+ previews for the My RISC OS web portal.

Readers of the Acorn newsgroups may have noticed that John has already asked there for ideas that could be used to improve Acorn User and we would
like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who took the trouble to respond to that request. Some of those ideas will find their way into the magazine from January onwards. Continuity on the magazine will be assured by the presence of Steve Turnbull as Consultant Editor and as contributor. The new editor intends to introduce new contributors to the magazine but these will add to those already writing for Acorn User and not replace them. More details of the changes will be released in the Christmas issue of Acorn User.

John has already planned exciting new additions to Acorn User to complement the best of the present magazine. These will be phased in over a few months. Your ideas are still welcome.

"The presence of Acorn User in newsagents is an essential tool for the RISC OS community", says John. "It's essential that that tool is used to promote RISC OS and we will work to ensure that it does it well. Our intention is to provide an excellent read, and a source of information, for all current or potential RISC OS users."

The next issue of Acorn User is due to appear on newsagents' shelves, or your doormat, later this week. The Christmas issue will be out at the
beginning of December.
