RISC OS Open Ltd have today confirmed that they now have products ready for customers to get their hands on.
As promised in the press release of 30th April by RISCOS Ltd. Select4 CDs have been posted out and the first arrivals greeted people as they got home from work on 2nd May.
We've been able to get a picture of the CD uploaded to prove they are in circulation and here's a copy. More subscribers should receive their discs during Thursday 3rd of May all being well.

Last evening, on 30th April, RISCOS Ltd released RISC OS SIX, confirming that CDs were in the post to subscribers. Available only as part of the Select scheme, RISC OS 6.06 is also badged as Select 4i2, following the previous Preview release in November 2006.

Blasts of the Xtreme have now released their second commercial map pack for Heroes of Might and Magic 2.
This new pack has been released just in time for the SouthWest Show at the Webbington Hotel in Loxton, where you will be able to purchase directly from Blasts of the Xtreme.

Jochen Lueg has updated !NoButton to version 2.1 and is available from his website: http://www.jochenlueg.freeuk.com/english/sharewar.htm
!NoButton is a frontend for various printers to enable functions like nozzle cleaning and nozzle test to be carried out from the computer.
It can be used from the Iyonix and this new version displays the currently selected printer on the icon bar.

It's nearly that time of year again when we are treated to a RISC OS Show in the South West of England. John Stonier, supported by the Bristol Acorn Risc User Group and Wessex ARM User Groups, have again organised a show at the now familiar venue of the The Webbington Hotel in Loxton.

Peter Naulls from the Unix Porting Project has ported the open source email client, Thunderbird to RISC OS, this is a demonstration version and is not yet fully functional.
You must own a A9Home or Iyonix (Virtual RiscPC?) machine in order for this to work,
RiscPC,RISCStation etc. machines will not run Thunderbird at this early stage in development.

We noticed this afternoon, shortly after lunch, that the Drobe web portal appears to have lost many recent articles going back from the present to 3rd of December 2006 (the most recent article up there at the time of writing).
Maybe they've had a hardware or disc crash and had to restore from an older backup. Hopefully this is just a temporary set back and that normal service will be resumed as soon as possible. All the best guys.
It would be a shame to have lost all that pointless, wild, and uninformed speculation in the forums about the possible (or not) release of RISC OS source code and legal issues surrounding it, posted by so many people who just don't have a clue. :-)

In this new version, an extra map is added due to there being two copies of the same map. Thanks to Toopah for sorting that out!
All copies of Era of the Phoenix sold after this date will contain version 1.10 or better.

Alex Singelton has published an article on his website about how Acorn Computers Ltd. were thinking of finishing producing all RISC OS products three years before Black Wednesday when Acorn Computers Ltd. ceased production of their hardware and software.

David Thomas has updated his application named Private Eye to version 2.00. PrivateEye is a viewer for Sprites, DrawFiles, JPEGs, ArtWorks, GIFs and PNGs.
This new version includes Tinct support, step forward/back through files in the same directory plus lots more!

Adrian Lees ceased development of Cino many months ago as the current hardware did not allow Cino to run at a good enough speed.
So, instead of letting Cino gather dust on his hard disc, he has freely released it on his website. It is far from ready but it's the closest we're going to get for a RISC OS DVD player for quite a while!
