The news items published under this category are as follows.
We've just learned the news that the much anticipated Postscript 3 Printer Driver being worked on by star coders John Tytgat & Martin W√ľrthner is currently in beta testing and close to release.

Following the opening of Zure Open ( http://www.zurenet.co.uk ) I felt the next best thing to do to tie in with the site is to create a news site reporting on the latest developments of open source projects in the RISC OS community.

This may or may not be moved to Zure Net to tie in with the site that is currently in development.

If you would like to contribute to RISC OS Open Source News (ROOSN) please contact at the following address: zure [at] carter dot mihopa dot net.

    Best Regards
    Michael Carter, Zure Open

Lee Noar, the guy responsible for Freeware Abuse, Deth and cdecl for RISC OS has ported Version 3.4.6r1 of ELF GCC.

As also reported elsewhere on the net, it is unfortunate that Both Stuart Tyrrell Developments and Virtual Acorn in two independent press releases have temporarily suspended supply of Virtual RiscPC software and A6 / A75 computers until further notice.

GPL under attack 10735 Reads gnu
    Well worth a look at....

The GPL has come under heavy attack in the US House of Reps. It seems that Bill Gates has figured out that what the RIAA can do, he can do, so he set a few bought and paid for reps in an attempt to blast the GPL out of existance. Wired has a good story, Slashdot is buzzing, and Google News has the goods from all over the net.

GCC 2.95.4 released 5029 Reads gnu
GCC is a free collection of compilers that provide the user with a powerful tool for translating C, C++ and Fortran source into fast ARM assembler that is suitable for execution on RISC OS.

GCCSDK is a portable build environment for creating ARM executables to be run natively on RISC OS. The build environment is designed to be hosted on a Unix-like system, such as GNU/Linux, FreeBSD or Solaris.

This is the first proper release of GCC since 2.7.2.1 back in 1997 though there have been experimental versions of 2.95.2 available since 1999.
