Press Release: MAUG meeting Wednesday 19th December

Tuesday, December 18, 2001 - 02:23 PM, (1122 Reads)

Just a quick note to inform everyone that there will be a meeting of the Manchester Acorn User Group this Wednesday evening, 19th December.

This meeting will be entirely informal, with a wide variety of things to see and talk about:

  • Arm Linux on Bush STB
  • Magazine roundup
  • My RISC OS
  • Discussion
  • Simtec are hoping to be present with ARM Linux running on a Bush set top box, and possibly on a CATS board and a RiscStation as well. (Perhaps there will also be an opportunity to see the USB hardware for RISC OS that is under development. And of course Simtec are involved in various other RISC OS projects that should be of interest).

  • There will be copies of Foundation Risc User 7, Acorn Publisher, the latest issue of Acorn User, RISC World, and hopefully Archive and RiscDomain to take a look at. So if you're unsure what RISC OS reading material is worth subscribing to, this is your chance to see what's available, both on CD and on paper.

  • Jeremy Coates will be demonstrating the updated version of My RISC OS, and explaining how you can get involved.

  • The last few free copies of APDL's PD CD 3 and 4 will be available for you to take away.

  • There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion on other RISC OS matters.

The meeting time and venue are as usual:

  • 6:45pm for 7:30pm, Wednesday 19th December 2001

  • Trafford Metrovick Rugby & Cricket Club
    Finnybank Road
    Sale
    Cheshire
    M33 6LR

There will be MAUG members at the venue from around 6:30pm, and probably until around 10pm (but you can arrive and leave whenever you like). There is no certainty that the bar in the club will be open, but there is an off license and a Chinese takeaway a few minutes walk away. There should also be tea and coffee available at the venue itself.

The venue is easily reached from M60 J7, with plentiful free parking right outside, and easy ground floor access. It is on the bus route from Manchester city centre, and is about fifteen to twenty minutes walk from Dane Road Metro station (one stop closer to the city centre than Sale Metro station). A map is available at our website, or contact us as below
if you need more details.
