Requests: News editor positions opened at drobe.co.uk

Friday, December 14, 2001 - 01:39 PM, (1837 Reads)

Fancy being an editor for a leading (rival - ed!) RISC OS news portal? Drobe Launchpad is looking for editors to extend its crazy yet friendly team. Send your applications to chris@drobe.co.uk, closing date is 31st December 2001.

Good luck and merry christmas! As you might well know, since its launch in 1999, the RISC OS news website Drobe Launchpad has been carefully edited and maintained by Peter Price, Chris Williams and Robin Edwards with 2 distinct aims: to be accurate and reliable and to be the news portal RISC OS users turn to first to find out the latest news in the rollercoaster ride that is the RISC OS world.

However we, the editors, have recently embraced this little thing called 'university' which has since devoured all our free time. This has left drobe.co.uk in a sad state of neglect that we shall now try to correct. As such, the Drobe Launchpad is now looking for a number of RISC OS users who would be willing to join our crazy yet friendly portal as news editors.

Alright calm down, I can tell you're excited by this announcement so I shall be brief. A typical drobe editor should be able to write engaging and researched articles, seeking out news and not just from comp.sys.acorn.announce and having a sense of, well, fun. The editor should be a competent internet and RISC OS user and have an interest in journalism as well as sufficient free time to actually work on the portal. Ideally we're hoping to take either two or three new editors to get drobe.co.uk back on it's feet and continue being everybody's favourite portal. Ahem.

It goes without saying that this isn't a paid job, there's no contract, you're writing articles because you enjoy doing it however you will get full drobe editor status and all the perks that come with it. Closing date for applications will be the 31st Dec 2001; please email your applications to chris@drobe.co.uk. Your application need not be a formal CV but it should at least include some personal details about yourself, details of your experiences with RISC OS and writing articles and why you think you'd make an ideal editor. Successful applicants shall be notified by email soon after the above deadline.

Many thanks in advance, thanks also to everyone who's stuck with us and merry christmas to you all.
