Articles: MAUG Monthly Meeting

Tuesday, November 20, 2001 - 11:47 AM, (947 Reads)

The next meeting of the Manchester Acorn User Group will be:

  • !Photostitch (finally)

Presented by its author, Dr J.D. Pearson
  • 6:45pm for 7:30pm, Wednesday 21st November 2001

Trafford Metrovick Rugby & Cricket Club

Finnybank Road

Sale

Cheshire

M33 6LR

This is a demo which has been arranged previously, however had to be postponed due to lack of time on one occasion, and software clashes on the demo machine on another. Photostitch automates the process of joining multiple similar-height images nearly-seamlessly (for example, a series of panoramic shots taken
with a digital camera). Dr Pearson will be bringing along his own machine to demonstrate the software, so we shouldn't see too many problems this time!

Since the talk and demonstration will be relatively short, this will also be a good opportunity for general discussion, problem-solving and related topics. Remember that if you have a problem with your machine which you would like looked at by a group of experts of various calibres, you can bring it along and we will have a go (though we can't promise a guaranteed fix!) If you let us know in advance, we can also have a think about the
problem beforehand and bring along any necessary bits and pieces.

As at most MAUG meetings, there will be a "big screen" kindly provided by Co-Comp Ltd, in the form of a 25" TV monitor, as well as another smaller monitor, so it should be reasonably easy to see what's happening.

There will be MAUG members at the venue from around 6:30pm, and probably until around 10pm. There is no certainty that the bar in the club will be open, but there is an off license and a Chinese takeaway a few minutes walk away. There should also be tea and coffee available at the venue itself.

Note that this meeting is at our new venue, even closer to M60 J7, with plentiful free parking right outside, and easy ground floor access. It is on the bus route from Manchester city centre, and is about fifteen to twenty minutes walk from Dane Road Metro station (one stop closer to the
city centre than Sale Metro station). A map is available at our website, or contact us as below if you need more details.
