News: Wakefield Show 2008 Press Release

Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 08:21 PM, (796 Reads)

A couple of days ago, Chris Hughes of the Wakefield RISCOS Computer Club and Wakefield Show Coordingator, sent out the latest details for this year's forthcoming show (which takes place in April).

There are some key points to note this year which are changes from last year: Firstly, that the venue has changed from last year - and not back to Thornes Park, as was the venue for many years; but in fact the show is returning to its roots and will take place at the site used for the very first Wakefield RISC OS (Acorn) Computer Show. Namely, the Cedar Court Hotel. Next, back by popular demand (and because there is the space to facilitate it at the venue), is the show theatre. The venue (Cedar Court Hotel), is within very easy access of the motorway network, being just off the roundabout at Junction 39 of the M1 and to aid those travelling by public transport, WROCC again will be laying on a free minibus from Wakefield Westgate railway station. Show sponsors are Advantage 6 and MW Software. Show venue and opening times are: Show date: Saturday 26th April 2008 Location: Cedar Court Hotel, Jct 39 M1, Wakefield Times of Opening: 10 am to 5 pm Cost: 5 ukp The full press release is below: PRESS RELEASE The Wakefield RISCOS Computer Club are pleased to be able to announce there will be another Wakefield Show in 2008. The 2007 show was held at the Mill House and Frobisher Suite, Stanley Ferry Marina, sadly that venue is no longer available, the owners have turned it into a "Wacky Warehouse". Thus we had to find a new home again for the show. After much searching we managed to find somewhere. The show is returning to where it all began back in 1996, the Ceder Court Hotel, Jct 39 M1, Wakefield, which is rather nice as it's also the club's 25th Anniversary. The show will be a little earlier this time in April, and is on Saturday, 26th April. It will be open to the public between 10 am and 5pm and will have a small show theatre since you all missed it last time. The main part of the show will be on the first floor (with access, via stairs or lift) and the show theatre will be in another room on the ground floor. Catering is being provided by the hotel. We are running the popular Free Mini-Bus service from Wakefield Westgate Station again for those coming by public transport. Cost 5 ukp (no advance tickets and we are sorry but we cannot accept debit/credit cards) So to summarise: Show date: Saturday 26th April 2008 Location: Cedar Court Hotel, Jct 39 M1, Wakefield Times of Opening: 10 am to 5 pm Cost: 5 ukp Show sponsors this year include: Advantage 6 and M W Software. The show website is now active: www.wakefieldshow.org.uk The show will also form part of the Wakefield Club's 25th anniversary celebrations in April. Anyone interested in exhibiting (large or small) should contact the show organisers at: show2008@wrocc.org.uk Organised by: The show is organised by the Wakefield RISCOS Computer Club. www.wrocc.org.uk
