Articles: RISC OS VNC Server Front End application

Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 12:43 PM, (1127 Reads)

If anyone was thinking that they'd like to use a VNC Server on RISC OS but just wished it had a front end user interface, then this may be useful to you...

Having used VNC Servers for a good while now, on various platforms, I decided it was time that RISC OS had a front end for its VNC server, to make it just a that little bit more user friently.

Whilst I was getting to grips with AppBasic, I decided this was a nice little project to get my teath into and so set about working on it when I had some down time away from home on business.

Taking my trusty Virtual Risc PC away, armed with RISC OS 6 and the supplied ResEd, also AppBasic and Zap, I set to work and after a couple of nights, had something resembling what I was after.  Over several more evenings, I added a few more features and got to the point where I was happy I could relase the first version to the public.  So here it is, available at:

http://www.blastzone.demon.co.uk/software.html/

Note that to avoid any confusion of versions, I've not distributed the server itself with the Front End and users must obtain this module and drop it inside the !VNCSvr application I've produced.

The latest version of the VNC Server can be obtained from:
