Articles: Wakefield Show approaches

Tuesday, May 15, 2007 - 02:14 PM, (1170 Reads)

With the Wakefield show very nearly upon us, the usual pre-show announcements have begun to start flowing.

Firstly from show organiser Chris Hughes, a press release giving updates on the current state of preparations etc. In case you've not been paying attention, the show is on Saturday 19th May between 10:30 am and 5:00 pm at The Mill House and Frobisher Suite, Stanley Ferry Marina, Wakefield.

Full details of the show can be found at the web site, but to summarise, there are now 24 exhibitors attending, plus a couple of the usual suspects are being represented by others due to being unable to physically attend. To celebrate the 25 years of the BBC Micro, there will be representation for the 8-bit machines and software from which our current systems were developed. Once again there will be a charity stall (see website for restrictions on electrical goods donations though).

We're hoping to see some new software products from various people, and R-Comp have just today announced the release of Messenger Pro 5. ROOL will be at the show selling their community mouse mats and maybe will surprise us all with something else too??? Both Advantage6 Ltd. and Iyonix Ltd. have been fairly quiet lately so we don't quite know what to expect from those stables.

WROCC will be taking subscriptions with a special offer for new members, as well as a couple of other surprises which you'll have to come and take a look at. Additionally, the club will be facilitating demonstrations of the recently released RISC OS SIX operating system and occasionally helping RISCOS Ltd. out a little with manpower on their stand.

The venue will be providing catering from around 9:30 am (reduced service) in the main Bar / Restaurant and expanded when the Restaurant opens up for lunch time.

Let's hope this show is every bit as successful for all concerned as previous years have been.

See you there!

Steve Potts.
