Developers: Two RISC OS Dealers suspend supply of certain products

Wednesday, June 16, 2004 - 12:32 AM, (3418 Reads)

As also reported elsewhere on the net, it is unfortunate that Both Stuart Tyrrell Developments and Virtual Acorn in two independent press releases have temporarily suspended supply of Virtual RiscPC software and A6 / A75 computers until further notice. First to announce their decision was Stuart Tyrrell Developments, citing a third party legal dispute. This was followed the next day by a similar release from Virtual Acorn.

The two announcements appear to be related and speculation on the net points at RISC OS itself being part of the issue.

The full press releases are below so that you may read for yourselves...

Notice to customers from Stuart Tyrrell Developments

Following notice of a legal dispute between two third parties, our current legal advice is to suspend the acceptance of new orders for our
A75 and A6 ranges of RISC OS computers whilst this is investigated.

OEM customers will be contacted shortly regarding action for losses which might be taken on their behalf.

We hope to see this matter resolved within a timescale which allows us to continue to promote RISC OS in addition to our more stable market
areas. In this event a further announcement will be made.

Press release from VirtualAcorn

As various RISC OS users may know there is a third party dispute which has caused supply problems in the RISC OS market. We are in the process of taking legal advice on the matter with regard to how we proceed.

In the meantime we have been advised that although we can still accept orders for both VirtualRPC-SE and VirtualRPC-Adjust we will be unable to supply a delivery date and that all orders will only be accepted on that basis.

This also means that regretfully we are highly unlikely to have any representation at the RISC OS Expo 2004 this weekend.

We wish to assure customers that our tech support service remains open and that we will do our best to maintain our dedication in the RISC OS market.
