Articles: Another subscription scheme hits the waves...

Thursday, October 31, 2002 - 07:29 PM, (2744 Reads)

Peter Naulls has released another subscription package, but this time it is for those wanting to learn C.

For 40 UKP, you get a 6 month subscription to this service.

For more info, visit the website

However.... What is interesting on the site is that he says "There are certainly people who know C better than I, or may answer your questions for free, but they may be hard to find, and you can't be sure of getting a timely answer (or answer at all)."

Well, I'm sure the good folks on comp.lang.c, alt.comp.lang.learn.c-c++ and in the Association of C and C++ Users would disagree.

A typical question on either of the usenet channels will give a very accurate answer in under an hour. Slow? Naaaaaa

The two usenet groups are free, lots of well respected and knowledgable people are on there who will spend hours helping on anything generic in the C (and C++) language. The ACCU has it's mentored developer lists, programming mailing lists and all sorts of other really useful resources and has the advantages of not costing as much and offering a yearly subscription with magazines.

Of course, the usenet groups do fail on OS or library specific material, but the ACCU does have a CAUG mailing list (C Acorn Users Group) with quite a number of very knowledgable bods on there (such as Stewart Brodie from Pace)

Takes yer pick folks.
