Over the years of the RISC OS Ltd. Select scheme, I've generally been impressed by the various improvements and speedups along the way and although I don't use every single feature, long gone are the days when I could just sit down and use older versions of RISC OS.

The show did go on 1590 Reads news

This is just a brief summary of the recent RISC OS show in Guildford for those who didn't make it in person but are thirsty for news.

Next Saturday is the RISC OS South East Show, having become a regular slot in the RISC OS callendar, the show is at the usual venue of Guildford College and we can look forward to a packed event. The opening times are 18th October 10am - 4pm. Despite the recent news about Castle / Iyonix Ltd withdrawing from the market, there is still much to be positive about. This is a chance for RISC OS users, past and present, to re-unite with one common goal - the progression of RISC OS and its applications and accessories.

We've heard that in a recent email, Jack Lillingston of Iyonix Ltd and Castle Technologies Ltd. has announced that the Iyonix PC is to be no longer available for ordering from 30th September 2008 (only a few days from time of writing).  Iyonix Ltd (formed as a separate division by Castle to sell the hardware) will cease trading once existing stocks of hardware and accessories are exhausted.  There are apparently very limited stocks available, that can be supplied on a first come, first served basis until the 30th.

It has only recently come to our attention, that back in June, RISC OS dealer CTA Direct's (aka RiscStation) shop was destroyed by fire.

A few days ago, Virtual Acorn announced an update to their Virtual Risc PC for Macs. This update to the network plugin, resolves some reported issues with networking using Omniclient and LanMan98.

Apparently a new version of LanMan98 is currently under development, as noted recently by Chris Evans of CJE Micros in response to a discussion about NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices.
